Commercial and Industrial Reverse Osmosis Systems

AXEON single-pass reverse osmosis systems or RO systems are designed for a variety of commercial and industrial applications requiring high quality equipment with quick delivery and competitive price. These pre-engineered, pre-assembled and factory tested systems minimize installation and start-up requirements, while allowing the customer to offer a high-grade water purification solution. With simple utility connections and easy to set up controls, the systems are ready for quick on-line service. AXEON RO systems are utilized in a variety of markets and applications.

Key Components of a Commercial or Industrial RO System

A commercial or industrial RO system features many key components that must work together in order for the system to perform optimally. The RO controller provides basic or more advanced functionality coming from a HMI (human machine interface) or programmable PLC (programmable logic controller). Larger systems are typically featured with a VFD (variable frequency drives) for the pressurizing of pumps and at times, energy recovery devices. The RO system pump, which when sized properly for an application and feed water conditions, has to achieve certain pressures in order for the RO membranes to perform. The membranes are loaded into single membrane housings, which hold up to one, two, three, four, five or even six membranes in series. The housings are then grouped into parallel flow paths and referred to as stages. Sometimes a single reverse osmosis system can have up to three stages in a series. This allows for a higher recovery rate and a reduction of waste water. A commercial or industrial reverse osmosis system will also include a pretreatment cartridge filtration, a pressuring pump, and a controls system. In a small RO system, the controls may be as simple as valves, gauges and rotameters. A larger system will contain flow, temperature, and pressure transmitters, as well as control valves operated by the controller. All of this is then mounted on an aluminum or steel frame and collectively assembled and fitted together, to create a complete reverse osmosis system.
